Q: Can I enter a team, group or corporate team?
Yes and we encourage all to do so. Just see the information page for the prices for entering the Team Challenge, which is the 5km course option. There is nothing better than getting together a group of friends or colleagues for some filthy fun.
Q: What is the Teams Challenge?
The Teams Challenge is for groups of a minimum of four people (with no maximum) who enter in the 5km event. The aim of the Teams Challenge is to encourage groups to enter and come and have fun by doing The Mudder. Getting dressed up is a big part of this category with the main event prizes being awarded to the teams in this section. The best dressed team overall, with the most impressive costumes as judged by the event organisers, will take home the major prize at prizegiving and win the Best Dressed trophy.
Q: How do I enter the Teams Challenge?
You will need a name for your team and you can either enter individually (just select Team Challenge and enter team name) or one person can enter the whole team (you must know everyone’s details). The link to enter online is on the Enter page.
Q: How do I get there?
We are centrally located at 498 Makuhou Road in the Rangitikei region, only ten minutes off State Highway 1. Parking is available for everyone and all we ask is people allow plenty of time to arrive, register and prepare before the start time.
Q: I am not a super athlete. Will this be too hard for me?
No, no, no. The Mudder caters for all levels of fitness from the greyhounds who want to be first home to the weekend warriors that just want to walk the short course. The name of the game is having fun so all entrants are encouraged to do the course at their own pace.
Q: What do I wear?
September can be cold or quite mild, it is a bit of a lottery. You can be guaranteed that the mud and water will be cold though so wearing a woolen or synthetic under layer on the skin is strongly advised. Quick drying fabrics as an outer layer are far better than cotton which can get very heavy and cold when wet.
Q: Can I dress up?
We would love you to. The wackier the outfit the better as far as we are concerned. There will be some great prizes for the best dressed teams and individuals.
Q: Will there be food and drinks available for everyone?
Yes and lots of it. We have listened to feedback from previous years and this year will see a range of options. There will be both hot and cold food, healthy and not so healthy, and hot and cold drinks. And yes there will be a coffee cart for those that want to get their fix.
Q: I see the course is on a working sheep and beef farm. Will I get attacked by these animals?
No, you will be perfectly safe from the animals. They will be more scared of you than you are of them. Entrants should relax and enjoy the rare opportunity to be part of New Zealand’s farming industry.
Q: Do you give back to local charities and groups?
Giving back to the local community is very important to The Mudder. Without the support of the many volunteers and marshalls who help on the day the event would not be possible, so supporting local groups and charities financially is a big part of the dynamic of this event.
